Mission Statement

The Sorenson Unity Center engages our neighbors to create opportunities, build community pride and enhance livability in Salt Lake City.

The Sorenson Unity Center operates under the Salt Lake City Department of Community and Economic Development.

GROW WEST GARDEN FEST:  Thursday, April 9th, 6-8 PM

   
GW The Grow West Garden Fest is a FREE event inviting the community to learn about gardening resources within the west side neighborhoods.
These resources include community gardens, school gardens, workshops, youth activities, organizations & businesses that support gardening practices.

FREE food by El Ranchero Chido for participants!
In partnership with Wasatch Community Gardens.

  I AM ENOUGH SHOW: Saturday, April 25th
@ 7PM
   
Enough StandUP & standOUT productions send out Pandora Scooter and her show I AM ENOUGH, which is about suicide prevention and self-confidence building for LGBTQ youth.

According to statistics from the Center for Disease Control and The Trevor Project (a national LGBTQ suicide hotline)  it is apparent that we lose two  to fiveLGBT youth every day to suicide.

Asset In the summer of 2013, the Sorenson Unity Center began participating in a neighborhood asset mapping project in partnership with University Neighborhood Partners, Utah Community Data Project, and the Glendale Mountainview CLC.

The goal is to provide policymakers and service providers with a better understanding of key assets in Glendale and Poplar Grove  neighborhoods.

  FAMILY FILM SERIES- THE GAME MAKER: Friday, April 24th, 6PM
   
  Young Ivan Drago's new-found love of board games catapults him into the fantastical and competitive world of game invention, and pits him against the inventor Morodian, who has long desired to destroy the city of Zyl, founded by Ivan's grandfather.
To save his family and defeat Morodian, Ivan must come to know what it is to be a true Games Maker. Sponsored by the Utah Film Center.

YC YouthCity fosters positive youth development in Salt Lake City by providing out of school opportunities for social, emotional, skills, character, and citizenship development in an inclusive and caring environment.

Afterschool Program 3rd - 7th grade / Teen Program 8th - 12th grade.

  HORIZONTE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES- FREE TUITION
MONDAY – THURSDAY, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM 
   
ESL Register for Horizonte’s English Language Classes. Sign-up with the instructor at any time, all levels taught.
Please bring a Driver’s License or Utility Bill for proof of address when registering.

Daycare available (3 hours free for kids 8 weeks — 8 years old between 9am—1pm.)

Are you pregnant or a mother under 18? Join our weekly support
group. Teen Success members benefit by earning $10 for each week of completed class, and $100 bonus for every 25 weeks attended!

Rent Our Facility
for your next event

The Center’s Performance Theatre, Gallery Lobby, Reception Area, and Kitchen are available for rental space to the general public, community groups, cultural organizations, and local businesses. The space can be used for performances, concerts, rehearsals, classes, meetings and private events.
