Programming Partnerships


Salt Lake City – The Sorenson Unity Center Programming Partnership is seeking to collaborate with community organizations, non-profits, and local businesses that work in the areas of:


Visual and Performing Arts
Mental Health
Physical Well-Being

Organizations should offer services through workshops, events or direct services.

The Programming Partnership is a great opportunity for organizations to work together in a collaborative effort to serve the residents of Salt Lake City.
Organizations that apply and are selected and agree to participate in the Programming Partnership will not be charged user/rental fees to host events or workshops at Sorenson Unity Center facilities.


  The Sorenson Unity Center partners include:
ArtBridge/U of U College of Fine Arts

ArtsBridge America is a 10-state network of 19 public universities and their surrounding schools that confronts the problem of the elimination of the arts from K-12 schools. ArtsBridge works to create partnerships between universities and public school, using college students in the arts to keep arts education in K-12 education. The University of Utah has had an active ArtsBridge program since 2001.
Community Action Partnership of Utah

Our advocacy focuses on low-income housing, work support and asset building. Our biggest internal effort to fight poverty comes from our support of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.We also publish poverty data in the form of an annual report on poverty in Utah. Additionally we provide a poverty simulation as a way to help people understand the realities of poverty.
Communities United
Comunidades Unidas

To date, we have provided assistance to and support for over 100,000 members of the immigrant and refugee community. Through a variety of programs focusing on both community well being and community organizing, we work with a daily average of 150 individuals to become healthy, self-reliant, and participatory members of society. We have also created three statewide networks that address issues facing immigrants and refugees by working with a broad base of over 200 organizations and individuals in the larger community. These coalitions have been an integral part of effecting changes to both policies and social norms that help to ease the process of adjustment and integration.
East High School English Language Learners

East High School English Language Learners Program hosts a variety of events at the Unity Center to share their diverse stories.

Educational Psychology Department /University of Utah Dr. Jason Burrow-Sanchez and team provided free mental health workshops for community members.
Equality Utah

Educates the LGBT community and the public-at-large about issues impacting the LGBT community and our allies, trains them to respond and to work proactively for LGBT equality. Equality Utah Foundation organizes advocacy trainings, forums and topical briefings in partnership with individuals and state-wide organizations.
Great West Institute

Great West specializes in the research and development of experimental programs and pilot projects focused around imagination, children, art and grassroots leadership. Our programs are powered by grassroots leaders and directed at new approaches to social activism.

Horizonte Instruction and Training Center Horizonte provides Adult English Learning classes for immigrants and refugees at the Unity Center.  The Unity Center in partnership with Salt Lake County provides free daycare for the ESL morning session.
Humanities in Focus

Humanities in Focus (HIF) gives 20 diverse individuals representing a variety of ethnicities the opportunity to discover and articulate their own voices through creative writing and documentary film production. Serving a populace that has been previously excluded from college humanities education and expression, HIF is a carefully designed course that includes college-level writing and documentary-making classes to deepen the understanding of the human condition. As part of the course, HIF provides participants with transportation, bus and TRAX passes, meals, childcare & facilities, college tuition and textbooks to maximize the educational experience.


Using the Ready To Learn Workshops, KUED teaches adults to regularly use and enhance the value of PBS children’s television and online content directly with children ages 0-8, particularly those who may be at risk of educational failure due to poverty, limited English proficiency, disability, and/or community conditions.

Mountain America Credit Union Provides money management seminars and sponsors Unity Center events.
 Mundi Project

Inspiring youth by creating open access to piano, music, and the arts. Founded in 2006, the Mundi Project’s mission is to provide youth access to pianos and innovative performance opportunities that incorporate all the arts. The Mundi Project’s focus is on but not limited to the piano. We are unique in the Salt Lake area, both in the services we provides and in our strong commitment to multi-disciplinary arts outreach through concerts and workshops. The Mundi Project operates the Piano Bank and Piano Ambassadors programs.

National Tongan American Society The National Tongan-American Society seeks to fulfill its mission to create and maintain programs that meet the needs of the Tongan-American community, their families, and their friends. In addition, it seeks to encourage the Tongan “‘ofa faka-kāinga” (extended-family love and care) that crosses ethnicity, national origins, gender, and religious boundaries.
People Helping People We are a successful employment program, dedicated to reducing the number of children living in poverty by helping low-income women, primarily single moms, build better futures for themselves and their children through long-term successful employment.
People’s Market
At the International Peace Gardens in Salt Lake City featuring local produce and prepared foods, artisan products and entertainment. We support farmers and gardeners, community diversity and entrepreneurship in Utah.

Planned Parenthood of Utah

Planned Parenthood Association of Utah is committed to providing accurate information to individuals of all ages concerning the emotional and physical aspects of human sexual behavior and reproduction; providing affordable, high quality reproductive health care services; and protecting and advocating for the rights of individuals to understand and manage their own reproductive lives.

Poplar Grove Community Council

The council serves to represent the community interests of the Poplar Grove neighborhood in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Poplar Grove boundaries include all residents and businesses residing west of Interstate 15, between North Temple Boulevard and 900 South, in Salt Lake City Utah. Poplar Grove Community Council will host CERT Training and HAM radio classes at the Unity Center.

The mission of the Office is to elevate the protection of basic human rights for all Salt Lake City residents through policy, education, advocacy and celebration. It enables us to make Salt Lake City the best place to live, work, play, and visit and do business. As a public service entity, our citizens and employees must reflect the broad diversity we have in Salt Lake City. We value the many diverse cultures represented in our community. We are committed to strengthening our Great American City by recognizing the value of inclusion. SLCC Community Writing Center

The SLCC Community Writing Center works with non-college related writing projects. The SLCC Community Writing Center supports, motivates and educates people of all abilities and educational backgrounds who want to use writing for practical needs, civic engagement and personal expression.

Slow Food Utah

Slow Food is a global, grassroots movement linking the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment, making the connection from "Plate to Planet."

Rape Recovery Center

To empower those victimized by sexual violence through advocacy, crisis intervention, and therapy and to educate the community about the cause, impact, and prevention of sexual violence.
University of Utah Women’s Resource Center

The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) at the University of Utah serves as the central resource for educational and support services for women. Honoring the complexities of women’s identities, the WRC facilitates choices and changes through programs, counseling, and training grounded in a commitment to advance social justice and equality.

Utah AIDS Foundation

The Utah AIDS Foundation, through education and services, helps to prevent HIV infection and empowers people living in the Intermountain region, which are affected by or living with HIV/AIDS, to live healthier and more fulfilling lives.



Utah Refugee Services Office The Utah Refugee Services Office was created as a result of the community’s demand for better support and services for refugees resettled in Utah.  The mission of the Office is to promote the effective integration of refugees in our state.
The Utah Society for Environmental Education

USEE encourages environmental literacy by teaching Utahans how to think, not what to think, about the environment. To achieve this goal, USEE serves as an umbrella organization and information resource for environmental educators, K-12 teachers, higher education, and the Utah community at large. These efforts will help ensure economic, social, and environmental sustainability for Utah.

Wasatch Community Gardens We exist to build community by providing the space to garden, the expertise to assist others, and the education to empower current and future generations of organic gardeners.                              By doing so, we improve more than our community's green space. Youth Bridge Initiative

It is our mission to close the gap between organizations and teens by networking with youth programs. This can be made possible by energizing communities to create an atmosphere where youth become leaders and we are all willing to work together.
